Marlene began painting at the age of 10, when she received an oil painting kit for Christmas. She paints in oils and pastels, and is inspired by the colorful seascapes and landscapes around her, as well as her many happy childhood summers spent on Cape Cod.
Marlene was born and raised in Waterbury, CT. She received a BFA Cum Laude in Graphic Design from the University of Bridgeport. Working full-time in advertising and raising her children Matt and Lara, took her away from painting for many years. After attending a local "paint night" several years ago, her passion for painting renewed.
In 2017 and 2018, she and her husband relocated to Montana, where she enjoyed painting the legendary, exquisite scenery the Treasure State had to offer.
Marlene strives for new knowledge and painting insight, taking workshops and attending lectures. When she's not in her yard gardening or baking pies, she paints in plein air and in her home studio.
She has studied with David Lussier of NH and Steven Oiestad of MT. She is a member of NH Plein Air Assoc. and the Seacoast Artist Assoc. Marlene resides in Barrington, NH with her husband and rescue dog Buckwheat.
